NOV ’18 | team project | internship | Afdeling Buitengewone Zaken (A/BZ), WO=MEN
To raise awareness about financial gender inequality, WO=MEN and A/BZ developed an interactive installation. It uses storytelling to help people understand different perspectives and open up conversation. I conducted a user test as a proof of concept.
We set up a booth at our office to mimic the envisioned experience as much as possible. We let participants listen to 3 stories, after which we conducted interviews with them. My tasks included recruiting participants, planning and running the user test, and conducting interviews.
The project showed me the power of storytelling, as well as active listening. I noticed that after listening to the stories, people could identify with the presented characters very well, and were willing to tell me quite personal stories. Insights from the user test were used to further develop the installation.
